NICOLAS GENEST - TROMPETTE ET BUGLE

He began music with blues harmonica in 1980, then with the trumpet which he studied at the Academy of music of Châteauroux from 1982 to 1984.

Arriving in 1986 in Paris, he started very soon to play with numerous musicians, including René Urtreger, Pierre Michelot, Alain Jean-Marie, Antoine Hervé, Jean-François Jenny-Clarck, Didier Lockwood, Glenn Ferris, Barry Altschul, André Ceccarelli, Henri Texier, Daniel Humair, Aldo Romano, Richard Galliano, Andy Emler... and in big bands "Lumière", "Quoi de Neuf", "Paris Jazz Orchestra", "F. Laudet big-band".

He also accompanied the following artists, Arthur H, Gilberto Gil, Fémi Kuti, Alpha Blondy, Jacques Higelin...

He worked on harmony and composition with John Clayton, Bernard Maury; The trumpet with Robert Pichaureau, Art Farmer, Wynton Marsalis, Terence. Blanchard.
Attracted by Indian music for a long time, it is around 1992 that he began to study it with Sylvie Lecerf (Carnatic flute), then with Shaymal Maïtra (tablas).

He won the 1st soloist prize at the International Contest of Jazz à la "Defense" 1993.

- "Django d'or" 1996, best 1st recording with the Julien Lourau "Groove Gang".
- "Victoire de la musique" 1999, with "City boom boom" album of Julien Lourau Groove Gang.
- Comissioned by Radio France to write 5 musical pieces for the "Alla Breve" serie in 1999.
- Many studio recordings, for movie soundtracks, theatre, television, publicity...

He also performed in various musical contexts, African, Brazilian, Cuban, and Funk that had him tour in Europe, Japan, Africa, south America, Canada, USA, and Middle East.
