Philippe Foch

TABLAS, PERCUSSIONS

Philippe Foch was born in 1963.
Since 1987 he opened his mind with Indian music, began the percussions and tablas with Shaymal Maïtra in Paris, before meeting Pandit Shankar Ghosh in Calcutta in 1994. He will go back several times there, in order to study with this one, and to play with many other Indiens musicians such as V. G. Jog.

Worked in parallel during 10 years with the Theatre compagny "l' Entreprise" (directed by François Cervantes), on 6 spectacles as a musician and an actor. He also composed music for the théatre: "Barbe Bleue" Co Vague et terre; "Die Fuegente" Co Theater Kantell (Germany).

His musical beginnings were in 1980 in Lyon, where he studied the drums at the AIMRA school, then at the "Dante Agostini" drums school in Paris in 1985.

He currently performs with the jazz quartet of Akos Szelevenyi (Hungary), with which he takes part in productions with Dewey Redman, Louis Sclavis, Ernst Ressegger...
The band of the saxophonist-flutist Didier Malherbes.
The "Hati" sextet directed by Nicolas Genest.
"Les Amants de Juliette" trio with Benoît Delbecq (pno) and Serge Adam (tp).
The Nawal Mlanao orchestra, Commorienne singer. The Funk band "Les standardistes" directed by Serge Adam.
The Percussion orchestra "Dhwanis" which also performs in India with Apurbo Mukherjee, Prabhu Edouard, Raôul Sin Gupta.
