TABLAS, PERCUSSIONS

Prabhu Edouard was born on November 1969 in Trichy (India), and lives in France since 1975.
He obtained a grant from the Indien government to study tablas in Calcutta with Pandit Shankar Gosh, from Jul. 1993 to Jul. 1994, Jan. 1996 to Jan. 1998, and from Dec.1998 to Oct. 1999.

He has accompanied many musicians in the musical tradition of India, in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Avignon, Calcutta, Bangalore (India), such as Sushma Unnikrishnan (Carnatic Singer), Subhendra Rao (Sitar), Pandit Giridharilal Maharaj (Kathak), Pandit T. Viswanâthan (Carnatic Flute ), Sanjeev and Karuna Loomba, Pandit Sulochana Brihaspathi (Khyal Singer), Ragunath Manet (Veena), Sharmila Sharma, Kakoli Sengupta (Traditional Singerl), Pandit V. G. Jog (Hindustani Violin), Pandit Pournima Sen (Khyal), Master Atayi (Afghan Rabab), Barun Kumar Pal (Hindustani Guitar), Kushal Das (Sitar)...

He has also performed solo tablas and in various musical contexts, jazz, fusion, and world, with "Nawal", "Kyffiz", Sri Hanuman, "Mukta", "Hati", and has participated in many original productions, such as ones with Maurice Béjart (théâtre de Chaillot Nov. 1995) with Savitri Shantala Nair (Kucchipudi), Jean-Pierre Drouet (théâtre de Suresnes Jan. 1995) with Ragunath Manet (Bharatnatyam), with "le trio de danse intercontemporaine" (J.C Paré, Astad Debu & Padmini Chetur) organized by the "Alliance Française" of Calcutta in Dec. 1997, with the "Dhwanis" percussion Orchestra (Calcutta Jan. 1997).
He could be heard on many radio programs: on France Inter with the "Ravi Magnifique Quintet",
"Mukta", on Radio Nova with "Nala" (Sarod)... and on television: "Cercle de Minuit" on Antenne 2 with Ragunath Manet (Bharatnatyam), a percussion duo with Jean-Pierre Drouet on ARTE...

He also performed in Patrick Glaise’s movie "Rimpa Shiv Princesse des Tablas" (Jul. 1996), and as Pandit Shanhar Gosh's assistant in Philippe Nasse’s Video.
Prabhu EDOUARD also gave training courses and master classes of Indian music, with the "Kalavistar" association at the Academy of music of Bordeaux, Quimper, Zurich, in Dharwar (India), in Grenoble with Nala (sarod), in Metz with Devasmita Patnaik (Odissi), and in Paris as Pandit Shanhar Gosh's assistant.
